What Runtiva chat is for

Runtiva chat exists so that people playing the same contest can talk about it — the sweat, the picks, the banter, the trash talk about last night's game. Almost everything you would say to friends at a sports bar is fine here. These guidelines describe the small set of things that are not, and what happens when they occur.

They apply to every message, poll, group name, pool name, display name and handle on the platform, to every member, and — with a higher bar, not a lower one — to Runtiva staff, creators and the assistants that post in group rooms.

1 · Don't target people

Trash talk about a lineup is the point of the room. Abuse aimed at a person is not. Threats, bullying, sustained pile-ons, and encouraging others to go after someone are removed, and repeat offenders lose the ability to message.

Fine

  • “Your Tuesday lineup was a war crime, mate.”
  • “Benching Kohli. Bold. Wrong, but bold.”

Not fine

  • Threats of any kind
  • Telling someone to hurt themselves
  • Organising a group to hound a member
  • Repeatedly messaging someone who has asked you to stop

2 · No slurs, no hate

Slurs and attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or similar characteristics are never allowed, in any spelling, in any name. This is the one rule the platform enforces before a message is even posted.

Fine

  • Real names and places that happen to contain an unlucky substring — Scunthorpe, Hancock, Sussex — are fine, and the system is built to know that.

Not fine

  • Slurs, however disguised — spacing, numbers, look-alike characters
  • “Jokes” built on them
  • A group or pool named with one

3 · Keep it out of the bedroom

This is a sports product used by adults, and adults swear and flirt. Explicit sexual content — descriptions, solicitations, sexual images — does not belong in contest rooms or group chats and is removed.

4 · Anything involving minors is reported, not just removed

Any sexual content involving anyone under 18, and any sexual approach to a person under 18, is removed the moment it is found and permanently ends the account. We preserve the material and the account records and report them to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as United States federal law requires of us. There is no warning and no appeal on this rule.

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local law enforcement first. Do not forward the material to anyone — report it in the app and let us preserve it.

5 · If you're struggling, we'd rather help than moderate

If a message suggests someone may be thinking of harming themselves, we do not treat it as a rule violation. Nothing is removed, nobody is muted, and it counts against no one's standing. A trained member of the team looks at it, and we point to people who can help.

In the United States the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is free, confidential and open every hour of every day — call or text 988. If the pressure is about money or play, the National Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-GAMBLER, also free and confidential. Losing money on a contest can feel worse than it should; deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion are on your account right now, and our responsible gaming page explains each one.

6 · No spam, no scams

Flooding a room, posting the same thing over and over, dropping links to phishing sites or "free money" schemes, and advertising unrelated products get removed and cost reputation.

7 · Don't sell picks, and disclose if you're paid

Runtiva chat is not a marketplace for picks. Offering picks for money, steering people to a paid group or another app, sharing payment handles, or posting "records" you cannot back up are removed and count heavily against your reputation.

If you are paid, sponsored, given free entries, or compensated in any other way for what you post — by Runtiva or by anyone else — you must say so in the post itself, plainly enough that someone reading it once cannot miss it. A note in your profile, a hashtag at the end, or a disclosure you made in an earlier post does not count. This applies to every post, every time.

Fine

  • “I’m fading Chase this week and here’s why…”
  • “Sponsored by X — full disclosure — but I genuinely like this stack.”

Not fine

  • “DM me for my locks, $20/week”
  • “Join my Telegram, 80% hit rate”
  • Payment-app handles in chat
  • Undisclosed paid promotion

8 · Never encourage someone to chase

Nobody on Runtiva — member, creator, staff or assistant — may encourage another person to play more to recover a loss, to "win it back", to re-enter winnings, or to treat any contest as a sure thing. Talking about the game is fine. Talking someone into their next deposit is not.

A stricter standard applies to anyone speaking with Runtiva's voice or on Runtiva's behalf: our employees and contractors; creators — anyone in a Runtiva partner, ambassador or affiliate programme; and the assistants that post in group rooms. For them this is a compliance matter, not a chat matter, it is handled as one, and it does not depend on how the message was worded.

Fine

  • “Go win it back next week” — said about a team, in a game thread.
  • “Rough slate. I’m sitting Sunday out.”

Not fine

  • “Just chase it back on the Sunday main, you’ll make it up”
  • “Guaranteed profit if you stack QB/WR”
  • “Put the winnings straight back in”

9 · Play your own entries

Coordinating lineups or entries with other people in the same contest to gain an edge is against the contest rules, and in some places it is also against the law. Messages that arrange it are passed to our integrity team, who look at them alongside the contest data before anything happens to an account.

10 · Don't post other people's private details

Phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, real names of people who use a handle — anyone's but your own — are removed on sight.

11 · Everything else

If something is clearly wrong but does not fit the above, report it. A person will look at it. These guidelines are revised from what we see.

What is deliberately not a rule. Swearing. Sports fans swear, and a "damn" or a "shit" with nobody on the receiving end is not a violation of anything here.

How enforcement works

  • Some things are stopped before they post — slurs, and a short list of the worst words in any spelling. Anything on the child-safety rule is removed the moment it is found.
  • Everything else is reviewed after posting, first automatically and then, where the automation is unsure, by a person. A message that breaks a rule is redacted; the sender may be muted for a period, removed from a room, or lose the ability to message.
  • Reputation. Each account carries a standing built from its history. Accounts in good standing get more reach — direct messages, links. Accounts that keep breaking rules get less.
  • Records. Every automated and human action is logged, including why, and regulators can inspect that log. Text that was reviewed is kept only as long as it takes to audit the decision, then deleted.

Reporting and blocking

Press and hold any message to report it, or to report the person who sent it. Open any member's profile to block them. A blocked member cannot message you, cannot follow you, and you will not see what they write. Rooms can be reported from their info page.

We review every report within 24 hours. Most are looked at far sooner. You will get an acknowledgement that we received it; we will not tell you what happened to the other person's account, because that is their private information.

Blocking is yours alone and takes effect immediately. It is not a report, it does not need our agreement, and nobody is told you did it.

Appeals

If a message of yours was removed, or your account was restricted, and you think that was wrong, you can appeal. Go to Help & Support → Contact Support in the app within 30 days of the decision and tell us what happened. Someone who was not involved in the original decision reviews it, and we respond within 7 days. You can see the status of your appeal at any time under Your Cases.

The one exception is the child-safety rule, where there is no appeal.

Accepting these guidelines

These guidelines are part of Runtiva's Terms and Conditions, which you accepted when you created your account. If we change them in a way that changes what is allowed, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
