Fantasy Cricket for Local Leagues and Clubs
Your league plays on weekends. Your members watch cricket all week. Runtiva gives them one place to do it together: a private group with its own chat and fantasy contests on the international and franchise matches everyone is following. Whether you run a tape-ball league, a hard-ball club, or a T20 competition, here is what a league group looks like and how to set one up.
What does a league get on Runtiva?
A league or club on Runtiva is a group: a private space only your members can see. Each group has:
- A members-only chat room — the app posts a card when a contest is created, when entries lock, and when results land, so the banter and the standings sit in one place.
- Private contests — fantasy cricket contests visible only to your group, built from the same scoring and rules as public contests. Free formats are open to every member; fixed-fee formats appear only where paid play is available.
- Invite controls — one invite link, an 8-character code, and a QR code you can put on a team sheet or a ground notice board. Switch on Approve Requests to confirm every join yourself.
- Room for the whole league — up to 100 members per group by default. Bigger competitions can run one group per team.
What do members actually play?
Classic fantasy cricket: pick a squad under a credit budget, name a captain (2× points) and vice-captain (1.5×), and score from what your players do on the field. It is the same format explained in cricket DFS, run privately for your group.
The group owner picks a series, then the matches. A private cricket contest can cover a single match or up to five from the same series and format, played within seven days of each other, which suits a weekend of fixtures. Members build one lineup that scores across every match in the contest, and entries close when the first match starts. Nobody sees anyone else's lineup before then, the owner included.
One thing to know up front: contests run on the professional cricket in the app, not on your league's own fixtures. Which series are open depends on the calendar; the Big Bash League, for example, is scheduled for December 12, 2026 to January 26, 2027. The contest slate for each tournament is announced in the app as it goes live.
What about members in different states?
Groups and chat work everywhere the app does. Whether a member can enter a paid contest is checked for that member when they enter: paid contests are available only in eligible states, and members elsewhere can still be in the group, chat, follow the standings, and play free-play contests. See where you can play for current availability. Groups can also run a free survivor pool for any season the app offers.
How to get your league started
- Get the app and sign up. It is free to join; paid entries add a one-time identity check and a location check.
- Create a group. Name it after your league or team. You become its owner.
- Share the invite. Drop the link in your league's existing chat, or print the QR code for match day.
- Create your first contest. Choose a series and its matches, pick a format, and publish. A card posts in the group chat and members can enter until lock.
- Hand over if you need to. Setting up groups for several teams? Transfer ownership of each to its captain; you stay in as a member.
Running a league? Talk to us
If you run a league or club and want to bring it to Runtiva, or want help setting up groups for your teams, email collab@runtiva.com with “Cricket league” in the subject. Tell us roughly how many teams and players you have and where you play.
Organizers never handle money in the app and cannot take a cut of any contest. Keep it social, set limits if you play for cash, and see responsible gaming for the tools in the app. More on the game itself in the fantasy cricket guide.
Frequently asked questions
Can Runtiva run fantasy contests on our league's own matches?
No. Contests are built on the professional cricket in the app: international series and franchise leagues, as each series opens. Your league's fixtures stay yours; Runtiva is where members play together on the matches everyone is watching.
Can I set up a group for each team and hand it to the captain?
Yes. Whoever creates a group is its owner, and the owner can transfer ownership to another member. The new owner takes over contest creation and member management, and the previous owner stays in the group as a regular member.
Does every member need the app?
Yes. Members join through the Runtiva app on iPhone or Android with the group's invite link, 8-character code, or QR code. Paid entries need a one-time identity check and a location check; free play does not.
Can one contest cover a whole weekend of matches?
Yes, within limits. A private cricket contest can cover one match or up to five from the same series and format, played within seven days of each other. Members pick one lineup that scores across all of them, and entries close when the first match starts.
Can we keep the group to league members only?
Yes. Groups are private and invite-only, and an owner can switch the group to Approve Requests so every join is confirmed first. If an invite link gets shared too widely, the owner can regenerate it or pause joins.
Can Runtiva work with our league directly?
Yes. Email collab@runtiva.com with "Cricket league" in the subject and tell us about your league: how many teams and players, and where you play. Inside the app, organizers never handle money: entries, refunds, and prizes all go through Runtiva wallets.
